NHI Social responsibility or financial burden
Not one South African will deny the fact that national healthcare for all is a very necessary service to protect our people, develop infrastructure and create jobs. But, where will government find the money to fund this very expensive service?
Private medical schemes support the initiative; however, government wishes to handle this itself despite a complete lack of infrastructure and reliant service delivery.
We are expecting to see a role out over the next 6 years with our target date being 2026. We know the personal income taxpayer will bear the burden of this costly service, but will government deliver on their promise to provide free, professional holistic service for all?
